The Wagoneer L has standard Active Headrests, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Headrests system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The QX80 doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Jeep Wagoneer L achieved a “Acceptable” rating - the second highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Infiniti QX80 has not been tested.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Wagoneer L’s optional Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The QX80 doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Wagoneer L Grand helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The QX80 doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Wagoneer L and the QX80 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive, around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

There are almost 12 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Infiniti dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Wagoneer L’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Jeep vehicles are more reliable than Infiniti With 29 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Jeep higher than Infiniti.

The Grand Wagoneer L’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder produces 90 more horsepower (540 vs. 450) and 5 lbs.-ft. more torque (521 vs. 516) than the QX80’s 3.5 turbo V6.

On the EPA test cycle the Wagoneer L gets better mileage than the QX80:

The Wagoneer L has 6.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the QX80 (30.5 vs. 23.6 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Wagoneer L has a standard locking fuel door which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the QX80. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Jeep Wagoneer L higher (6 out of 10) than the Infiniti QX80 (5). This means the Wagoneer L produces up to 6.9 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the QX80 every 15,000 miles.

For better stopping power the Wagoneer L’s brake rotors are larger than those on the QX80:

For better traction, the Wagoneer L’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the QX80 (285/45R22 vs. 275/60R20).

The Wagoneer L’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the QX80’s standard 60 series tires. The Wagoneer L’s optional tires have a lower 45 series profile than the QX80 Luxe/Sensory/Autograph’s 50 series tires.

The Wagoneer L has a standard full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the QX80; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Wagoneer L’s wheelbase is 9 inches longer than on the QX80 (130 inches vs. 121 inches).

The front grille of the Wagoneer L uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The QX80 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Wagoneer L has 18.2 cubic feet more passenger volume than the QX80 (179.3 vs. 161.1).

Maximum trailer towing in the Infiniti QX80 is limited to 8500 pounds. The Wagoneer L offers up to a 10,000 lbs. towing capacity.

The Wagoneer L 4WD with optional equipment can be flat towed on all four wheels (dinghy towed), allowing recreational vehicle owners to bring it with them on the road. When they reach their destination, the Wagoneer L can be unhitched and driven around locally. The QX80 can’t be towed flat on the ground.

The Wagoneer L has a higher maximum payload capacity than the QX80 (1550 vs. 1455 lbs.).

The Wagoneer L’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The QX80 does not have an oil pressure gauge.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the Wagoneer L offers optional cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The QX80 doesn’t offer cornering lights.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Wagoneer L to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The QX80 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Wagoneer L’s optional ParkSense Automated Parking can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling the transmission and speed with the brake pedal. With its available fully controlled system, the driver just activates it and it parks autonomously, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The QX80 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

The Jeep Wagoneer outsold the Infiniti QX80 by over five to one during 2024.
