Compare the2025 Jeep Wagoneer LVS 2024 Lincoln Navigator

The Wagoneer L has standard Active Headrests, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Headrests system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Navigator doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Jeep Wagoneer L achieved a “Acceptable” rating - the second highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Lincoln Navigator has not been tested.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Wagoneer L Grand helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Navigator doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Wagoneer L and the Navigator have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive, around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

The Jeep Wagoneer L achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2024 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, and pedestrian crash prevention testing. The Navigator has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

Jeep pays for scheduled maintenance on the Wagoneer L for 2 years and unlimited miles. Jeep will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance (up to 2 visits). Lincoln doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Navigator. (Lincoln offers free mainteance on some Navigator models.)

There are over 4 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Lincoln dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Wagoneer L’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jeep vehicles are better in initial quality than Lincoln vehicles. With 24 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Jeep higher than Lincoln.

The Grand Wagoneer L’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder produces 100 more horsepower (540 vs. 440) and 11 lbs.-ft. more torque (521 vs. 510) than the Navigator’s 3.5 turbo V6.

On the EPA test cycle the Wagoneer L gets better mileage than the Navigator:

The Wagoneer L has 6.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the Navigator (30.5 vs. 23.6 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Wagoneer L has a standard locking fuel door which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the Navigator. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

For better stopping power the Wagoneer L’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Navigator:

The Wagoneer L has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Navigator doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The Wagoneer L has a standard full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Navigator; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

The Wagoneer L offers an optional automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Wagoneer L’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Navigator doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Wagoneer L’s wheelbase is 7.5 inches longer than on the Navigator (130 inches vs. 122.5 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Wagoneer L is .8 inches wider in the front and 1.1 inches wider in the rear than on the Navigator.

For greater off-road capability the Wagoneer L Air Suspension has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Navigator (10 vs. 9.6 inches), allowing the Wagoneer L to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Wagoneer L has 7.3 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Navigator (179.3 vs. 172).

The Wagoneer L has 1.5 inches more front hip room, .9 inches more front shoulder room, 1.6 inches more rear legroom, 1.4 inches more rear hip room, .1 inches more rear shoulder room, 1.8 inches more third row headroom, .5 inches more third row legroom, .2 inches more third row hip room and .2 inches more third row shoulder room than the Navigator.

The Wagoneer L’s cargo area provides more volume than the Navigator.

The Wagoneer L’s cargo area is larger than the Navigator’s in almost every dimension:

Maximum trailer towing in the Lincoln Navigator is limited to 8300 pounds. The Wagoneer L offers up to a 10,000 lbs. towing capacity.

The Wagoneer L’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Navigator does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Wagoneer L’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Navigator’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Wagoneer L to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Navigator doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

When the Wagoneer L is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Navigator’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Wagoneer L is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Navigator doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Wagoneer L first among large suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The Navigator isn’t in the top three in its category.

The Jeep Wagoneer outsold the Lincoln Navigator by 63% during 2024.
